"When it comes to rethinking the telco paradigm, if there's one guy you can trust to do the job it's Martin Geddes."
— Benoit Felten, Principal Analyst, Yankee Group
Conference presentations
I am a popular speaker at major industry events, such as VON, ETel, Emerging Communications (eComm), INEC, Voice 2.0, SIIA, International Bar Association, ICIN, Broadband Stakeholder Group, FTTH Council, Telco 2.0, London Business School TechSummit and Freedom to Connect.
Here are videos of some of my recent performances:
- eComm in San Francisco (April 2010 event). Due to the volcanic ash cloud, I had to present via Skype from my living room (and my laptop crashed half way through).
- eComm in Amsterdam (October 2009 event) with the transcript here.
- eComm in San Francisco (March 2009 event)
- Telco 2.0 in London (November 2008)
- eComm in San Francisco (March 2008 event)
I gave a talk in Washington DC on ‘network neutrality’ at Freedom to Connect, rebutting former FCC chairman Reed Hundt and the inventor of the phrase, Prof. Tim Wu; the resulting article on my blog (which was heavily linked to) was in the top 10 results for the term ‘network neutrality’ on Google for about six months.
TV appearances
Here is my December 2010 appearance on Al Jazeera English talking about network neutrality. A strange experience, sitting alone in a dark room, facing two bright lights and an unmanned camera, and trying to make out what was going on with the interviewer and other panelists via an earpiece.
I have also been on TelecomTV:
- a panel on business model disruption
- an interview on the future of telephony
- a panel on cloud communications
